Report on Women's Activity Under Women's Federation
Date: 2nd May 2025
Location: Family Federation Center, Mishoro Village, Chipata, Zambia
Introduction
The Women's Federation organized a successful community engagement event focused on child health, nutrition education, and fostering family values. The gathering brought together mothers, caregivers, and young women to address critical issues affecting families in Mishoro Village.
First Session: Child Health and Nutrition
The event commenced with an opening prayer by Mrs. Lupili, followed by a child health assessment conducted by Mrs. Florence Chanda and Shema. Key findings included:
• A 3-year-old girl weighing 9kg(underweight).
• A nearly 3-year-old child weighing 18.8kg (overweight).
Mrs. Lupili emphasized the need for professional medical consultation to guide mothers in managing these cases. Plans were made to coordinate a clinic visit during her next trip.
Soya Porridge Demonstration:
Mrs. Lupili demonstrated how to prepare nutrient-rich soya porridge, highlighting its health benefits for children. After the cooking session, the porridge was served to the 26 children in attendance, and each child received 1.2kg of soya porridge powder to take home.
Second Session: Family Values and Women’s Health
Discussion on "True Family Values"
Mrs Florence Chanda read excerpts from the book in English, while Mrs Severine Lupili translated into Nyanja. Key reflections included:
• Mrs. Lupili’s Insights:
• "A woman is the center of the family; her love must be sacrificial."
• "Mothers must remain steadfast in supporting families through prayer and humility, even in adversity."
• Mrs. Mbao’s Contribution: Urged women to respond with humility to criticism from neighbors unfamiliar with the teachings.
Sanitary Pad Distribution:
Mrs. Lupili provided instructions on proper sanitary pad usage, addressing both first-time users and those needing clarification. Pads were distributed to all attending women.
Conclusion and Next Steps
The event concluded with a closing prayer led by a young mother and a group photo. Mrs. Lupili announced her return to teach soya beans porridge mixing techniques, further promoting affordable nutrition.
Outcomes:
• Enhanced awareness of child nutrition and health monitoring.
• Strengthened dialogue on women’s roles in family cohesion.
• Improved access to menstrual hygiene resources.
• The Women’s Federation remains committed to empowering Mishoro Village’s women through education, health advocacy, and community support.
